A Romani man called Daka Asani went missing in the town of Uroševac/Ferizaj while shopping in the local market on 1 August 1999. In 2000 his body was exhumed from a single grave near Pristina. Mortal remains of 176 Albanians, Serbs and Roma were also found at the site. Daka Asani's body was identified and returned to his family on 1 December 2006. The cause of his death was given as “multiple gunshot wounds to the head and trunk”. Despite repeated requests from his family, the authorities have not investigated his murder.
